Te Tari Pūreke – Firearms Safety Authority is New Zealand’s Firearms Regulator. Our Vision is to ensure the possession and use of firearms in Aotearoa is the safest in the world.
To achieve this, Te Tari Pūreke delivers four core functions: effectively implementing the firearms licensing systems; managing the Firearms Registry; educating people to enable compliance with their legislative responsibilities; and promoting the safe possession and lawful use of firearms.

About the role
It is an exciting time to be joining our organisation which is transforming in line with the arms legislation and regulations. We are looking for strong operational leaders to lead our team in Wellington and positively contribute to regional and national outcomes. You will be leading a team in the district who are focused on meeting all our service elements. You will be focused on building a regulator culture within our teams and driving the KPIs across these service portfolios.
Key Deliverables:
Drive KPI’s, improving and achieving against targets with a regional/national focus.
Focusing on national consistency across process and resolving complex problems.
Ensuring resource management and flow of work is being effectively managed considering the geography.
Proactively identifying and managing risks.
Leading change and culture.
A key liaison with internal/ external stakeholders

We as the firearms regulator, collaborate closely with both the Ministry of Justice and NZ Police. The Ministry of Justice is responsible for policy advice and system oversight and NZ Police is responsible for law enforcement function.
Together we seek to continuously improve our approach across the firearms regulatory environment.

Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence at $110,425.00
