Job Summary

Bricklayers lay bricks, pre-cut stone, and other types of building blocks in mortar to construct and repair walls, partitions, arches, and other structures. This role is essential in the construction and building industry and typically involves working on residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings to determine specifications and
    requirements.
  • Measuring distance from reference points and marking guidelines on working surface to lay out work.
  • Spreading mortar over the base or bricks and laying bricks in rows.
  • Checking vertical and horizontal alignment using spirit levels, plumb lines, and
    straightedges.
  • Cutting bricks to size using hand and power tools.
  • Repairing and maintaining existing brickwork.
  • Operating brick-cutting machines.
  • Constructing arches and ornamental brickwork.
  • Sealing foundations with damp-resistant materials.

Job requirement: applicant must meet following requirement to apply for this job

  • NZQF Level 4 qualification
  • At least three years of working experience in relevant industry
  • Proficiency in using bricklayer tools and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of building plans and specifications.
  • Ability to perform precise measurements and calculations.
  • Physical fitness and manual dexterity.
  • Problem-solving and time management skills.
