He angitūtanga: The opportunity
As a Building Technician in our Property Services team, you’ll provide essential maintenance support across some of Auckland’s most iconic venues, including the Aotea Centre, Town Hall, Civic Theatre, Bruce Mason Centre, Auckland Art Gallery, Queens Wharf, Maritime Museum, and major stadiums. Working in a positive and supportive team environment, you’ll help keep these spaces safe, functional, and ready to host world-class arts, cultural, and community events. Every day brings variety, from routine upkeep to specialist repairs, giving you the opportunity to apply your skills across a wide range of tasks while making a real impact on Auckland’s visitor experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, assess, and complete building maintenance to a consistently high standard.
- Carry out general repairs, including seating, lighting, and minor painting.
- Support venue upkeep with tasks such as water blasting, cleaning, and safety checks.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with the wider Property Services team to maintain Auckland Unlimited’s venues.

To succeed in this role, candidates will bring hands-on skills in general property maintenance, painting, or carpentry, paired with a genuine passion for learning and delivering quality work. A strong focus on customer service, excellent organisational and time management abilities, and a positive, team-oriented attitude are all essential. A commitment to health and safety practices is also key, ensuring all tasks are carried out to the highest standard while maintaining a safe working environment.
From a technical perspective, a building trade qualification or equivalent experience within the building sector is highly valued. A current, clean New Zealand driver’s licence is essential, as the role involves working across various locations, while holding a Site Safe Passport will be considered a strong advantage. Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer
This is a fulltime 40 hours per week role working across Monday to Friday, with the occasional requirement to work after hours /weekends as required so flexibility is key.
