About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Butchery Assistant to support the daily operations of our butchery department. This hands-on role involves assisting with meat preparation, packaging, customer service, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in cutting, trimming, marinating, and crumbing meat products under supervision
- Weigh, label, price, and package meat accurately for display and sale
- Ensure all products are presented attractively and meet quality standards
- Rotate stock and check use-by dates to ensure freshness and compliance
- Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean, sanitised, and safe
- Provide friendly and helpful service to customers when required
- Follow all food safety, health & safety, and hygiene procedures
Requirements
- Previous experience in a butchery or food preparation environment is preferred but not essential
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy items and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable handling raw meat and working in a chilled environment
- High attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness
- Able to follow instructions and work well as part of a team
- Flexible to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as needed
