About the Role

We are looking for a new member to join our highly skilled team of Clinical Nurse Coordinators to work with Head-Neck surgical oncology patients. Our patients present with many challenges and we work hard to give them the highest level of coordinated care.

We are fortunate to offer our patients multidisciplinary care and interact daily with our colleagues in Surgical, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Speech-Language, Pathology, Radiology & nursing peers in our regional centres.

This position is responsible for coordinating the care of head and neck cancer patients within Te Uru Mātai Matengau | Cancer Screening Treatment and Supportthroughout the continuum of care and serves as a clinical resource.

This role is permanent, working 32 hours a week Monday to Friday.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients; coordination of all patient care; conveys findings to physician; phone triage according to department standards.
  • Coordinates patient care, orders diagnostic tests, conveys findings to physician, coordinates patient appointments, and assists with referrals to outside sources.
  • Assists physician and provides support with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.
  • Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties, including compliance with environmental safety regulations, infection control standards, and quality assurance.
  • Acts as liaison by facilitating communication and coordination of care between patients, families, and other health team members; explains routines and procedures to patients and coordinates patient care information to appropriate sources.

About you

If you are an experienced nurse looking for a position that offers the opportunity to grow and learn while managing a challenging patient population, with the following essential skills we would love to hear from you!

  • Registered Nurse with current APC
  • Minimum of 3 years post registration, within a contemporary current practice in care of patients receiving cancer treatment / care
  • Proficient / Expert PDRP
  • Relevant Post Graduate Qualification (or working towards in agreed timeframes).
