A position is available for a non-cardiac trainee in our Cardiothoracic unit. You will be joining a small team that allows for excellent access to theatre time.

There is support available for training courses required for programme entry to Cardiothoracic training. This is an excellent opportunity to experience cardiothoracic surgery whilst working in a supportive environment.

  • Keen to further develop your surgical skills?
  • Want to experience more of this field than a three or four month rotation?
  • Opportunity to complete your Part 1 studies in a supportive environment
  • Opportunity to complete a required rotation in our intensive care unit
  • As one of the three dedicated Cardiothoracic Surgery Registrars in a team of four, it is expected the successful candidate will become an integral member of the service

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz
  • a minimum of two years post qualification experience and ideally applicants will already have Registrar experience in this speciality, however this is not essential.

It is requirement of the Medical Council NZ that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand, it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion.
