About the Role

This role is a development role. The Cardiology Service is seeking a Registered Nurse, Specialist Clinical Nurse or Clinical Nurse Specialist to grow into the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist – Heart Failure which includes nurse prescribing. To do this we will develop a plan with the successful applicant to grow your experience, skills, academic qualifications and practice to a point where you will take a lead role in the provision of specialist nursing care and coordination for patients living with heart failure. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support optimal disease management, patient education, and improved outcomes across both hospital and community settings.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Cardiology Service team provides comprehensive, patient-centred care across the continuum of acute and chronic cardiac conditions. We are a collaborative, passionate team dedicated to excellence in clinical practice and innovation.


About you

As a Specialist Clinical Nurse or Intern Clinical Nurse Specialist or Clinical Nurse Specialist – Heart Failure, you will be committed to developing your skills and experience to become a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Heart Failure who prescribes within a two year time period.

You will bring a high level of clinical expertise, a passion for delivering patient-focused care, and the ability to lead and support both patients and colleagues. You will also demonstrate a commitment to equity and culturally safe practice. Specifically, you should be:

    • A current Clinical Nurse Specialist or Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate and post-graduate qualifications (or working towards) in cardiac or advanced nursing practice
    • A current RN Prescriber or commit to be working towards becoming an RN Prescriber within primary care and specialty team.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ post-registration experience, with some recent experience in cardiology or heart failure care
    • Demonstrated leadership, advanced clinical decision-making, and excellent communication skills
    • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
    • Commitment to continuous quality improvement and patient-centred care
