About the Position | Te Mahi

We are looking for Community Support Workers in Kaiaua, Miranda, Pokeno, Mangatangi & Ngtea areas for our service user based in Kaiaua (Waikato) who requires 24/7 care.


Support work is fun, people-facing, challenging, and very rewarding, and it is also a deeply empathetic journey. It is more than a job; it is an opportunity to provide invaluable support, led by the people you will be supporting.


Responsibilities may Include:

  • Assisting with personal cares (showering, bathing)
  • Assisting with household management and meal preparation
  • Assisting with accessing the community
  • Supporting exercise programmes
  • Bowel, Bladder, and Catheter cares
  • Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers
  • Medication support


Employment Type: Permanent Full time (30+ Hours) or Part Time (Up to 29 Hours)

We offer a range of employment opportunities including casual, part-time, and full-time positions, which will be discussed further during the recruitment process.


Days of work:
As this is community-based work, 24/7 rotating rosters would be involved. We are looking for dedicated support workers who are comfortable covering the following shifts; 7 am - 3 pm and 3 pm - 11 pm between Monday -Sunday. The duration of these hours may vary, ranging from shorter to longer periods, depending on the specific needs of the Service user.

You are a calm but confident-natured individual who can demonstrate resilience and understand the challenges of our service users. There are many responsibilities associated with being a support worker which can be challenging and fulfilling. It is rewarding when you are part of the support that enables a person to live their best lives in the community.


The candidate would have (Candidate Pre-Requisites):


  • Ideally, prior personal care experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with complex medical conditions, like spinal injuries, traumatic brain injury
  • Access to a car and ability to drive independently (a full New Zealand Driver's License is a must)
  • A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial and those looking to enter the healthcare sector will also be considered (comprehensive training can be provided)
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must.

  • Pay Band: $24.13 - $30.03 per hour (This is based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017 – hourly pay rates based on equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity).
