ABOUT ROCKET LAB

Rocket Lab is a global leader in launch and space systems. The rockets and satellites we build and launch enable some of the most ambitious and vital space missions globally, supporting scientific exploration, Earth observation and missions to combat climate change, national security, and exciting new technology demonstrations. Our Electron rocket has provided reliable access to orbit since 2018, becoming one of the most frequently launched rockets in the world. Neutron will be our next rocket on the launch pad, an advanced 13-tonne payload class, reusable rocket to launch the mega constellations of the future. Our space systems business includes our extensive line of satellites and components that have enabled more than 1,700 missions including the James Webb Space Telescope, NASA Psyche Mission, Artemis I, Mars Ingenuity helicopter, and more.

Join our pioneering team and launch your career to new heights!

Rocket Lab's Neutron team is responsible for bringing our new large rocket Neutron and its launch and test sites to life. From designing and testing Neutron's structures and components, to firing up its new Archimedes engines, to setting up Neutron's launch pads and test sites across the United States, joining the Neutron team is your opportunity to help launch a new large rocket for the very first time.

CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT ENGINEER

As a Configuration Management Engineer based at Rocket Lab's site in Auckland Production Complex, you will have the opportunity to support the revolutionary Neutron rocket program as we transition from Flight 1 to Block 1 Operating capability. In this role you will work on establishing and maintaining critical change management systems that ensure seamless coordination between Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams across all Neutron configuration items. To be successful in this role, you must be detail-oriented, systematic in your approach, and passionate about driving process excellence in a fast-paced aerospace environment. Join a driven team that's tackling challenging projects, delivering on exciting missions, and making an impact on the future of space!

WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:

• Set up Master Tickets for NF2 and NF3 solution items across all Configuration Items within ECM to track Neutron change effectivity between Flight 1 to Block 1 Operating capability
• Configure subtasks within solution items on a case-by-case basis to ensure appropriate backoff dates are communicated effectively between Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams
• Drive team members to utilize the change management system as the primary source of documentation as changes begin to be released
• Support the implementation and maintenance of Engineering Change Management (ECM) processes critical to AS9100D certification
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure change management processes are followed and continuously improved
• Maintain accurate configuration status accounting and documentation throughout the change lifecycle
• Assist in training team members on proper use of change management systems and processes

YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field
• 0-2 years of experience in configuration management, change management, or systems engineering
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills with ability to work effectively across multiple departments
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software systems quickly
• Understanding of engineering documentation and change control processes
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
• Strong organizational skills and systematic approach to problem-solving

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

• Experience with PLM systems such as Teamcenter or similar configuration management tools
• Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and AS9100 quality management systems
• Previous experience in manufacturing or aerospace environments
• Familiarity with engineering change management processes and documentation
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in technical environments
• Understanding of rocket or spacecraft development processes
• Project management experience or certification
• Experience with database management and data analysis tools

WHAT TO EXPECT

We’re on a mission to unlock the potential of space to improve life on Earth, but that’s not an easy task. It takes hard work, determination, relentless innovation, teamwork, grit, and an unwavering commitment to achieving what others often deem impossible. Our people out-think, out-work and out-pace. We pride ourselves on having each other’s backs, checking our egos at the door, and rolling up our sleeves on all tasks big and small. We thrive under pressure, work to tight deadlines, and our focus is always on how we can deliver, rather than dwelling on the challenges that stand in the way.
