Te Tūranga – The opportunity
Join RNZ’s award-winning team as a casual digital journalist. We’re after flexible and experienced journalists who can pick up shifts on a casual basis, including weekends, to cover breaking news, write features, and help develop rnz.co.nz as a destination of choice for our audience.
Te Mahi – About the job
You'll help create and publish content across RNZ’s digital platforms. That includes breaking news, features, explainers, visuals and homepage editing. You’ll work with other parts of RNZ to make sure our digital offering is top notch.
Some of the things you’ll be doing will include:
- Writing, editing and publishing news and features, including breaking news.
- Helping to curate the homepage and key sections

Adding in images, audio and video ensuring strong multimedia storytelling

Sharing content via RNZ social media channels

Use analytics to help shape coverage
Ōu Pūkenga – About You
We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running. Ideally, you’ll have the following experience:

After-hours availability, including weekends.

Proven strong journalism skills and news judgment

Reporting and/or subbing experience for a news website or digital media organisation.

Experience in still pictures, video and audio editing, development and use of graphics and visualisation of data.

Demonstrated experience in breaking news, live blogging, hour by hour story development, features, analysis and context pieces, and online content curation.

Demonstrated experience in the use of social media to advance story development, distribute and promote content.

Understanding of RNZ’s editorial standards
