Job Description

This is a Part-Time (20 hours a week), Fixed-Term 6-month Contract role with a target start date of mid/late September 2025.

Our Faculty of English has a team of EAP Specialists who are passionate about English language teaching and committed to providing best learning opportunities to Foundation Studies and pre-Foundation Studies students, while delivering the College’s vision and values.

Our students come from many places around the world to prepare for undergraduate programmes in one of our three partner universities in New Zealand. Our goal is to develop and deliver an engaging, efficient, and effective EAP curriculum that meets our students’ needs and expectations and helps them adjust to the academic culture of New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Plan and deliver hybrid and face-to-face EAP lessons, applying professional standards and best practices to teaching methodologies.
  • Monitor student progress and provide effective feedback.
  • Undertake administrative responsibilities efficiently for the courses taught.
  • Develop high-quality resources, when needed.
  • Share expertise and analyse disciplinary differences in knowledge communication.
  • Maintain current field knowledge through professional learning and development.

Qualifications

About you:

Ideally you will already hold a valid teacher registration or could apply for a Limited Authority to Teach. You might be relatively new to your career, but you are ambitious and have the desire to learn and use effective tools to get the best out of our international students.

  • Level 7 or higher, in TESOL, TEFL, TESL, or Linguistics.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant and recent teaching experience.
  • Exceptional communication and time management skills.
  • Experience in teaching English online through a range of Office 365 applications and other digital platforms (advantageous).
  • Proficient use of digital technologies for administrative and teaching and learning purposes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and ability to make positive contributions to the team.

You will be open to exploring disciplinary differences, in particular the distinctive features of language and genres used in those disciplines. You will also be interested in helping colleagues from other subject areas to learn and implement strategies for making the content and language of their courses accessible to international students.
