Our Kauri site was established in 1989 and is Fonterra’s northernmost site. The site produces a range of milk powders, butters, AMF and a range of speciality products. Kauri’s Skim Milk Powder evaporator remains the largest single stage evaporator in NZ!
About the opportunity | Te whai waahi
We have an opportunity for a qualified Industrial Electrician to join our fast-paced and innovative Kauri site where you’ll be a key member of our high performing Maintenance Team, focusing on Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance and breakdown services across the site.
Utilising your extensive industrial electrical experience and problem-solving skills you will fault find and repair breakdowns while navigating changing work priorities. Day to day you will also complete planned and preventative maintenance initiatives to ensure our site performs at its peak each day. Other areas of focus include high voltage, instrumentation, process control and automation.
This is a permanent position working a rotating shift pattern with an on-call element.

We are looking for an individual who remains calm under pressure when responding to unplanned breakdowns and can confidently troubleshoot issues as they occur. With your forward-thinking drive and ability to achieve results you’ll have plenty of scope to drive continuous improvement on equipment with some of our industry's cutting edge automated technology. You’ll be a strong problem solver with excellent communication skills that will see you working collaboratively within the team and across the site.
We want to hear from you if you have:
- A New Zealand Electrical Registration with a current practicing licence.
- Experience in and industrial electrical maintenance environment with equipment repair, failure analysis to root cause, and preventative maintenance.
- Great computer literacy skills, ideally with experience using SAP.
- Hands on experience with PLC automation systems and instrumentation beneficial.
- Experience within the food or dairy or manufacturing industry is highly desirable.
