With a capacity of over 380 beds, we provide secondary care to an urban population of 85,000 and over 200,000 in the catchment area. The Opportunity

Work in a structured teams supported by registrars and consultants.

Palmerston North Hospital offers the following opportunities in general medicine and medical subspecialty runs.

Ability to rotate through the below medical runs:

  • Cardiology
  • Renal
  • Geriatric Medicine – subacute including outpatient clinics.
  • Haematology
  • Medical Oncology
  • Radiation Oncology
  • Medical Relief
  • General Medicine (Gen Med, Geriatrics, Neuro)

There are also opportunities to do both an ICU and an Emergency Medicine rotation.

We actively promote strong candidates into registrar positions.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz.
  • Completed PGY1 or equivalent.
