With around 180 sites, 10,000 team members and a large number of New Zealanders shopping at our three brands, we have a big health & safety responsibility. From our distribution centres to store floors, the safety of our team members, contractors and customer’s is paramount.
We’re looking for a Health & Safety Adviser who’s ready to get out from behind the desk and into the heart of our supply chain operations. You’ll be based at our largest distribution site in Wiri, building trust with our teams on the ground, understanding the ins and outs of daily operations, and embedding a culture where safety comes first.
Job Description
Reporting into the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Logistics Lead, you’ll play a key role as a trusted Advisor partnering with Leads across our supply chain to ensure on the ground Health & Safety support.
Drawing on your toolkit of skills and experience you will:
- Support a proactive safety culture in a high-risk logistics environment
- Offer sound HSW advice & coaching to all stakeholders and people leaders
- Work ‘hands on’ to advise on all areas of HSW, including areas such as HSW compliance, critical risk management, hazardous substances management, injury management etc.
- Deliver engaging safety training and inductions so everyone understands hazards and controls
- Provide support in assurance reviews, follow up on actions, and track progress against plans
- Investigate incidents with potential for significant harm, and ensure corrective actions are in place
- Assisting with audits and reporting to monitor safety performance
Qualifications
While direct supply chain experience isn’t essential, you will have a strong understanding of health and safety principles. You will be a passionate, people’s person, who builds relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, with ease. You will be confident in holding others accountable, whilst demonstrating empathy.

- Understanding of HSW principles - Able to apply legislation and best practice in a logistics setting
- Experience in incident investigation - Especially those with potential for significant harm
- Confidence in stakeholder engagement - Can build relationships and hold others accountable in a respectful way
- Hands-on experience with HSW systems/processes - Including compliance, risk management, and reporting
- Ability to deliver training and inductions - Comfortable speaking to groups and simplifying safety messages.
- Strong communication skills - Clear, empathetic, and able to influence across different levels
