He angituutanga: The opportunity

As a HR Business Partner at HCC, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting designated business units by partnering closely with leaders and employees.

You’ll deliver both strategic and hands-on guidance across a wide spectrum of people-related matters, including talent management, employee relations, leadership coaching, performance development, conflict resolution, learning and development, wellbeing, and recruitment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership Support
    Offer timely, practical coaching and advice to leaders, driving commercially sound decisions that align with HCC’s vision, values, and strategic goals.
  • Expert HR Guidance
    Serve as the primary HR contact for your assigned groups, delivering advanced expertise and support to both leaders and team members.
  • Programme Development & Execution
    Design, implement, and champion people-focused programmes and initiatives that support broader organisational and People, Safety & Wellbeing strategies.
  • Core HR Activities
    Contribute to essential HR functions including employee engagement, compliance, recruitment, onboarding, organisational design, talent management, remuneration, and succession planning.
  • Cultural Transformation
    Lead and support cultural change efforts, acting as a role model and inspiring high performance and alignment with HCC’s values.
  • Manager Support & Systems Guidance
    Provide specialist coaching and practical support to managers, ensuring consistent application of HR practices and effective use of people systems.
  • Complex HR Projects
    Take ownership of challenging HR tasks and projects, delivering thoughtful and impactful solutions.
  • Policy & Compliance Oversight
    Regularly review and refine HR policies and procedures to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and current employment legislation.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualification in HR or related degree or equivalent workplace experience.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years plus experience in a relevant role(s).
  • A proven track record of thinking differently, acting with integrity, working together, and making it happen.
  • Self-awareness that mindset is the foundation of performance and an ability to develop self and others in this regard.
  • Knowledge of relevant employment legislation.
  • Thorough understanding of a wide range of Human Resource principles and practices.
