We’re looking for a Summer Intern with an interest in Site and/or Project Management to join our team on a fixed term basis between November 2025 – February 2026.
About the role:
Based in the South Island, you’ll join one of our project teams, working under the guidance of the Site and Project Manager and supported by the wider team.
You’ll be part of a real project team, working alongside experienced professionals who are passionate about delivering innovative and well-coordinated construction outcomes. This is your opportunity to see how your construction studies come to life—on-site, in the office, and across real-world projects.
As a Construction Management Summer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience working on-site with the construction team. This is a unique opportunity to apply your learning in a practical setting, get your hands dirty, and learn directly on the tools.
You will also:
- Attend toolbox talks and pre-start meetings
- Observe subcontractor coordination on site
- Assist with basic site documentation (e.g., daily diary, delivery dockets)
- Shadow site supervisor or manager during walkthroughs and planning sessions
- Help track material deliveries or support logistics tasks
To be eligible, you’ll be in your first or second year of tertiary study in Construction Management.
We are looking for students who are:
At least one year into their studies by the end of 2025
- Eligible to work in New Zealand over the summer
- Ready to work 45 hours per week from mid-November to late February
What we offer:
Joining Leighs means more than just summer work — it’s the first step in your career journey. Many of our past interns have gone on to join our Future Leaders Programme, where they’ve built long-term careers in project leadership, commercial management, and more.
Paid, fixed-term employment
- Real work experience that builds your CV and confidence
- Supportive mentoring from industry professionals
- Opportunities to connect with others on the same journey
- A place where you can make a meaningful impact from week one
