Northland Kindergarten Association (NKA) is seeking an inspired and dedicated teacher to join the four-teacher team at Hikurangi Kindergarten, Whangārei. This 20-hour per week position, will have varying daily hours beginning 15 July 2025.

Hikurangi Kindergarten is situated in the settlement of Hikurangi about a ten-minute drive north of Whangārei. Tamariki attend from both the local community and surrounding rural and coastal areas. The kindergarten operates five 6-hour sessions Monday to Friday catering for 30 children between two and six years of age.

Hikurangi Kindergarten operates as an All-Year Model. Teaching staff benefit from 30 days Annual Leave and 15 Professional Time days per year, this 20 hour position includes 4 non-contact hours per week. NKA offer excellent professional development budgets and staff have opportunity to apply for annual scholarships and wellness initiatives.

The environment at Hikurangi provides a natural, well-resourced, and thoughtfully uncluttered space where tamariki can thrive. Whānaungatanga and manaakitanga are at the heart of this kindergarten, with teachers warmly welcoming and encouraging both tamariki and whānau to take an active role in the programme.

Hikurangi Kindergarten is part of a network of 25 kindergartens within the NKA. The kindergarten is supported by a professional practice and management team. NKA adheres to the employment conditions as offered in the Kindergarten Teacher, Head Teachers and Senior Teachers Collective Agreement 2023-2026.

Applicants must hold a recognised New Zealand ECE qualification (minimum Dip Teaching ECE), current practicing certificate, and first aid certificate.
