We’re looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our Enterprise Services Group, with a focus on the Transaction Lifecycle Management (TLM) application and associated reporting platforms. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, balancing deep engineering expertise with strong stakeholder engagement and solution delivery.
Please note: - This position requires participation in an afterhours on call support roster.
Ōu Pūkenga | About you
- Provide Level 1–4 support (after hours support), manage incidents, and ensure system stability and performance adhering to Tech Risk Policies.
- Own the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, from gathering business requirements to technical analysis, Discovery, Planning, vendor coordination, testing, and production deployment under Agile framework.
- Translate business needs into technical specifications, collaborate with stakeholders to assess feasibility, define scope, and ensure alignment with reconciliation workflows.
- Oversee testing artefacts, ensuring quality and compliance before business sign-off.
- Proactively identify and resolve recurring technical challenges Drive root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions that improve platform reliability and performance
- Maintain data pipelines, enable reliable data ingestion, transformation, and reporting across reconciliation systems.
- Ensure compliance and governance, Lead SOX compliance, patching, upgrades, disaster recovery protocols, and certificate rollovers.
- Raise and manage risks effectively Identify potential delivery or operational risks early, communicate them clearly, and work with stakeholders to mitigate impact.
- Maintain detailed records of requirements, technical specifications, deployment plans, test results, support procedures, and change logs to ensure traceability and audit readiness.
- Engage cross-functional teams, work with architecture, ETL and business units to deliver integrated solutions.
- Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring guide support engineers, share best practices, and foster a culture of engineering excellence.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
- Experience in end-to-end support incident management, system monitoring, and application support (Level 1–4) and Reporting Platforms.
- Experience or Strong understanding of reconciliation and investigation processes and workflows, Wrap Rec, payments and Banking Products (SWIFT, Murex etc).
- Experience in SaaS or cloud computing applications, and knowledge of reporting.
- Proven track record in leading and delivering complex multi-stakeholder initiatives from requirements through to production, with measurable business outcomes.
- Skilled in converting business requirements into actionable technical deliverables, with a strong understanding of reconciliation use cases.
- Experience working with stakeholders, architecture teams, ETL developers, and external vendors to align dependencies and ensure seamless delivery.
- Ability to define and write technical specs for transforming source system files into application compatible formats.
- Hands-on experience with system testing, test planning and Change/Project management.
- Strong judgment in recognizing delivery, technical, or operational risks early and communicating them effectively to mitigate impact.
- Proactively identifies recurring technical challenges and implements long-term solutions that improve platform performance.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance, patching, upgrades, backup/recovery, disaster recovery testing, and certificate management Vulnerabilities management.
- Ability to produce clear, structured documentation including technical specs, test plans, deployment records, and support procedures that supports transparency and decision-making.
- Passion for driving automation strategies and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce manual effort and enhance reliability.
- Ability to lead and mentor engineers, and drive technical excellence
Desirable Experience
- Financial services or banking industry background (Reconciliation, SWIFT, ISO20022, Payments).
- Experience with Azure or AWS, large-scale distributed systems and Agile delivery tools (Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow).
- Project management and change management knowledge.
