MIT is at the forefront of changing lives with a strong vision of getting people into great jobs. Our Hairdressing school is a well-respected and long-established training facility which takes pride in offering the best industry training possible. We seek a lecturer/ teacher who is passionate about the industry and wants to share their knowledge. You will need to bring recent hairdressing experience and be active in the industry. You will be working Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays.

E pā ana ki te tūranga - About the role:

You will be sharing your knowledge of the trade and supporting our ākonga- students to achieve their career aspirations. You will be delivering our barbering programme in Trades hairdressing for Semester 2 this year and providing 1 day of cover for our full time hairdressing programme for our Level 3 programme.

If you are a motivated, enthusiastic teacher with excellent verbal and written communication skills to complement your presentation skills, you fit right in and enjoy working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Preference will be given to those with Advanced Trade Certificate or equivalent qualification. Previous teaching experience is advantageous, as is a sound knowledge of the NZQA framework.

We offer a work environment which values genuine people who care for others, are well-connected, open and approachable and strive for excellence in all we do. If you are excited by the role and feel you would fit well into our organisation, we would love to hear from you.

MIT is committed to ensuring our workforce reflects the diversity of our ākonga, - students and the rich cultures represented within the local community we serve. We know how important it is for our ākonga and kaimahi (staff) to have their culture and values reflected in our way of working and in the people we recruit. To support this, MIT seeks to grow the number of Māori and Pasifika kaimahi across our Institute, and gives recognition to applicants who demonstrate Māori and/or Pasifika cultural knowledge and skills.

"Kua herea mātou ki te whai i te tūturutanga o Te Tiriti O Waitangi." We are committed to creating and maintaining a culturally sensitive work environment in relation to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

If you are excited by this role and want to make a difference, we would love to hear from you.
