About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi
The MLOps Engineer conceptualises, builds and maintains robust machine learning systems to automate and improve decision-making processes. They understand ACC’s complex business problems, and how to create and apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to solve them.
The role leads innovation, enhances business performance, and enables data-driven decision-making throughout the organisation, collaborating with Data Scientists, and Data Engineers to implement scalable and efficient machine learning solutions and integrate them into production environments.
The role provides technical leadership and mentoring across the wider MLOps Community of Practice in all phases of data engineering and machine learning.
This is a permanent, Wellington based role.
About you | Mōu
- You have an understanding of machine learning fundamentals (algorithms, statistics and data science) and are familiar with popular machine learning frameworks
- You have experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms
- You have experience with model deployment technologies, CI/CD pipelines, model versioning, and model monitoring.
- You are experienced with software engineering practices and have some experience of data engineering principles and practices
- Strong Python programming skills
- You will have experience working in agile methodology
- Experience with SQL and/or other database manipulation tools
- Ideally you will be familiar with dbt on Snowflake – however this is a nice-to-have.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment

The appointing salary range for this role is $117,787 - $166,288 with appointment depending on skills and experience of the successful applicant. ACC also offers additional 9% superannuation.
