Network Asset Supervisor - Transport

Dunedin City Council
Dunedin
Full time

The Dunedin City Council (DCC) takes great pride in delivering a broad range of services to the communities of this unique and fascinating city. From our roads to recycling, public libraries and pools, water supply to walking tracks, and everything in between, DCC's people are talented and committed to serving their city.

Our Transport Group is responsible for the planning, development, operations and maintenance of the city's roading network. Within our Transport Group, we have Asset and Funding, Transport Delivery and Transport Strategy teams.

The opportunity:

We are looking for an adaptable and enthusiastic team player to join our Asset and Funding team as Network Asset Supervisor. This role provides consistent and reliable assistance to the Network Assets Team Leader and others within the Transport group with their duties concerning regulatory and asset matters.

The Network Asset Supervisor protects the Dunedin City Council's Transport Assets by ensuring roading standards are maintained when utility operators, contractors and developers are working in the roading corridor. You will act as asset protector to ensure compliance with the DCC Roading Bylaw, Local Government Act 2002 and other Council polices and bylaws are met to prevent the unnecessary deterioration of the roading asset.

This role is a great opportunity to start or further your career in Transport as it offers a rounded and broad overview of the transport network.

Ideally you will have:

  • Ability to quickly learn and retain new information.
  • Have relevant experience in the Transport Industry or equivalent.
  • A basic understanding of Land Information Memoranda (LIM) and Building Consent processes (PIM and PCON)
  • A high degree of self-motivation and initiative, be organised, and have the ability to work independently.
  • A sound understanding of civil engineering works procedures.
  • A working knowledge of the Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management (CoPTTM), the National Code of Practice for Utility Operators and Traffic Management requirements would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Clear and proficient written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to provide professional service at all times and handle potentially difficult customers in a way that maintains Transport professional image.
  • Experience of working in a team environment and collaboratively managing a workload which is shared with colleagues.

In addition to the above you will have excellent customer services skills and the ability to be professional and courteous when dealing with customers, including being able to explain technical matters in a non-technical way.

What we offer:

  • 5 weeks annual leave + additional long service leave after qualifying periods
  • Parental leave benefits, including paid partner's leave
  • Superannuation (after 6 months of service) + free annual flu vaccinations and eye checks every 2 years
  • Supportive team environment
  • Salary Range: $70,452 - $82,885 per annum

The DCC is committed to the Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and our work serving the citizens of Dunedin will reflect this.
