About the Role

Radiology Services at Health New Zealand, Canterbury | Te Whatu Ora, Waitaha provide patient centred care. The Molecular Imaging & Therapy Department located at Christchurch Hospital provides Radionuclide Imaging, Radio-pharmacy and Therapy services for primary and secondary care providers from the Canterbury area and from other South Island Hospitals.

Christchurch Hospital is a tertiary centre for AANMS accredited training. Our current workforce includes 3 Nuclear Medicine Specialists, a dedicated Nuclear Medicine Trainee and Radiology Registrar, a Nuclear Medicine Physicist, Registered Nurse, 6 Nuclear Medicine Technologists and 1 Technologist Trainee.

Our busy tertiary hospital setting will offer you the challenge of performing a wide range of procedures involving acute, planned, inpatient, and outpatient work. You - ll coordinate workloads and liaise with clinical and support staff.

The service has 2 dedicated Siemens SPECT-CT cameras (Intevo Bold and ProSpecta).

We are looking for an enthusiastic, qualified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, with a team player attitude who is interested in joining our team as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in the progressive and rewarding profession of Nuclear Medicine (Molecular Imaging).

Days/hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8 - 4:30pm with a rostered Radio-pharmacy shift from 7 - 3:30pm. Days of work to be negotiated.

About You

As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist you will be responsible for Radionuclide Imaging, Radio-pharmacy, Radionuclide Therapy Invivo/Invitro Tests, Radionuclide Administration and Radiation Management.

In this role, you will be required to:

  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationship skills - ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and communicate effectively with patients, relatives and members of the health care team.
  • Demonstrate professional responsibility - complying with Health New Zealand Policy and Procedure, relevant codes of practice, health & safety standards, and departmental quality system procedures.
  • Apply specialist skills in all areas of Nuclear Medicine practice in order to provide the best quality service for our patents, within allocated resources.

It is essential that you have registration with the NZ MRTB (Nuclear Medicine Technologist scope of practice) with a current practicing certificate.
