The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Nurse Consultant to lead and support the future of Professional Practice for nursing. This is a senior role reporting to the Clinical Nurse Director- Practice, Policy and Standards as part of the Directorate of Nursing. To be successful in this role you will bring your professional expertise, clinical skills and experience, have a positive, pragmatic can-do attitude, and an ability to work in a collaborative partnership. You will have excellent communication skills both written and verbal alongside a high level of professionalism. This role is organisational wide supporting nursing across the district so knowledge of services and divisions would be an advantage.
You will be supporting and leading nursing practice with strategic and operational initiatives, and ensuring optimal patient and whaanau outcomes across the organisation. This role works in collaboration with other professionals and members of senior nursing team.
You will be an accomplished nurse leader capable of driving clinical excellence and inspiring teams while observing our commitments to Te Tiriti O Waitangi and our diverse and vibrant community. Your passion for equitable, patient-focused care and your broad understanding of healthcare systems will be crucial in shaping the future of nursing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing leadership and direction across the organisation for nursing professional standards and practice.
- Contribute to a high-performing senior nursing team aligned with organisational values and priorities.
- Enhance professional nursing governance and contribute to divisional and organisational strategy.
- Support the development of a culturally competent and diverse nursing workforce with a strong emphasis on Maaori and Pacific health equity.

About You:
- NZ Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Minimum 5+ years relevant clinical experience in NZ
- Proven nursing leadership/management experience
- Completed Masters qualification with relevance to specialty or underway
- Familiarity with document management and nursing practice models/scopes of practice and practice development would be an advantage
