The opportunity
We are looking for a full-time Parking and Bylaws Officer to operate the License Plate Recognition (LPR) vehicle to monitor parking compliance across the Western Bay of Plenty District. The key responsibilities for this role are:
- Review and process LPR data from the office to identify parking violations.
- Issue infringement notices in accordance with regulations and council policy.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for enforcement activities.
- Support the Compliance Team in promoting safe, fair, and accessible public spaces.
- Provide excellent customer service when engaging with the public, answering questions, and explaining regulations.
- Work both independently and as part of a supportive team environment.
- Follow health and safety protocols while driving and working in the office
To set you up for success, you'll have
- Excellent communication skills and experience in conflict management.
- An understanding of Traffic Regulations / Transport Act / Bylaws
- Ability to navigate and use enforcement databases and record management systems accurately.
- Proficient in using mobile devices, handheld ticketing units, and printers.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Ability to interpret and apply parking regulations, bylaws, and relevant legislation.
- Skill in reviewing digital imagery and data to identify and verify parking violations.
- Confidence in operating a vehicle for extended periods while maintaining safety and efficiency.
