About the role - Korero mo te turanga

The New Zealand Embassy in Mexico City is seeking a Policy Adviser. The successful candidate will be responsible for research and analysis across a range of subject areas, and for supporting the Embassy's engagement with decision-makers, policy-makers, thinkers, influencers and the business sector in Mexico and the other countries we are responsible for.

The annual starting salary for the position, including aguinaldo and vacation premium, is likely to be offered at MXN$620,000 (MXN$46,366 per month), depending on relevant experience.

Who are we looking for? Ma wai te mahi nei?

We are looking for someone with excellent analytical skills, who is a thoughtful communicator, a team player, fluent in English and Spanish, and able to leverage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders in support of the Embassy's objectives. A thorough understanding of the Mexican political context is essential. A background in government work, trade policy or private sector engagement would be desirable.

The successful applicant will be employed on local terms and conditions and must have the right to live and work in Mexico. For any non-Mexican applicant, obtaining and maintaining the appropriate working visa is the responsibility of the applicant and any offer of employment is subject to this. If applicable, relocation to Mexico City is at the expense of the applicant.
