Job Description
We’re looking for a visionary Portfolio Chief Engineer to ensure our facilities, assets, and infrastructure remain at the top of their game.
Based in Auckland CBD and overseeing 14 exceptional properties across New Zealand, you’ll be the strategic and operational leader for engineering and maintenance across our hotel portfolio, reporting directly to the Portfolio General Manager. You will provide hands-on guidance, long-term capital planning, and technical expertise to ensure our properties operate safely, sustainably, and efficiently.
Keys duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead and mentor on-property Chief Engineers and maintenance teams across all 14 hotels.
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and ensure compliance with health, safety, and building regulations.
- Develop and manage multi-year capital improvement and asset protection plans, 5 years in advance
- Implement energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
- Manage engineering budgets, cost controls, and procurement for equipment and contractors.
- Drive consistent engineering standards across the portfolio to meet brand, owner, and guest expectations.
- Act as the point of escalation for urgent technical issues.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or Engineering Manager in the hotel or commercial property sector, ideally across multiple sites.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- In-depth knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, etc.) and relevant NZ regulations.
- Strategic thinker with solid budgeting and project management expertise.
- Comfortable with regular travel across New Zealand.
- Computer Literate
- Full working rights in New Zealand
