A little bit about the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to join Kathmandu as the PR & Communication Specialist. You will support the execution of Kathmandu’s communications, PR, influencer, and sponsorship strategies helping bring our stories to life across internal, earned, and digital channels.

This is a dynamic, hands-on role that sits at the heart of the team, helping coordinate content, support media and influencer activity, execute sponsorship agreements, write and edit communications, and ensure our voice is consistent across every touchpoint. You’ll work closely with the Communications Manager and PR Manager to help deliver high-quality content and messaging that reflects our brand’s purpose, values, and commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the spirit of adventure.

Day to day responsibilities include:
  • Seasonal Copy Deck and Features & Benefits List Creation - Leading the creation and management of seasonal copy decks, ensuring they align with brand standards and creative strategies and developing comprehensive features and benefits lists for products, guaranteeing they communicate key selling points effectively and align with customer needs.
  • Content and Communications Support - Write, edit and proof content across a range of internal and external channels, including emails, intranet, media releases, blog posts, social copy, FAQs, and team updates and ensure the tone of voice and brand language is consistently applied across all content
  • PR and Influencer Support - Support in executing the PR Strategy, including always on and seasonal PR Campaigns, supported by the PR Manager and alongside PR Agencies and proactively identify opportunities for earned coverage, and represent Kathmandu as the PR contact for all outdoor media contacts.
  • Execute Brand Sponsorship Strategy - Execute Kathmandu’s sponsorship commitments, with support from the PR Manager and broader team where required and supporting in engaging and collaborating with internal teams including HR, Content Marketing, Product, and Campaigns to bring these partnerships to life.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration - Work closely with the PR & Communications team, Creative, Content, Social, Product, and Brand to ensure messaging is aligned across touchpoints and liaise with internal departments including People & Culture, Retail, and Partnerships to support timely communication delivery.

  • Highly organised, reliable and able to manage multiple deadlines with ease

  • Proactive and solution-oriented — able to take initiative and follow through
  • Confident working across different departments and managing a variety of tasks
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities
  • Enthusiastic about storytelling, media, brand building and the Kathmandu purpose
  • A strong sense of accountability and pride in producing high-quality work
Qualification & Experience Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or a related field
  • 2–3 years’ experience in a communications, PR, marketing or content role (in-house or agency)
  • Solid writing and editing experience across a range of content types and formats
  • Familiarity with media and influencer landscapes, particularly across ANZ
  • Exposure to campaign reporting or performance tracking desirable
  • Experience working with creative, content, or agency teams is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
