As Practice Lead Findability, you'll lead MBIE's strategic approach to digital findability-ensuring our content is discoverable by people and technologies alike. You'll champion best practices in on-site and off-site search, including SEO, GEO, and citation optimisation, and play a key role in shaping MBIE's online presence.

This is a leadership role within the Online Channels team, reporting to the Manager Channel Development. You'll collaborate across MBIE to drive innovation, improve customer experience, and embed accessibility and plain language standards in everything we do.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of MBIE's findability strategy.
  • Ensure content is discoverable by users and technologies such as AI.
  • Apply deep knowledge of search behaviours and technologies to improve digital experiences.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Mentor and coach others to build capability and foster a culture of excellence.
  • Champion data-driven decision-making and customer insights.
  • Work collaboratively across MBIE to align efforts and deliver shared outcomes.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Proven experience in leading findability strategies, including SEO, GEO, and citation optimisation.
  • Strong understanding of content strategy, metadata, taxonomy, and emerging search technologies.
  • Experience with tools like SEMrush, Google Analytics, and CMS platforms.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through coaching, mentoring, and collaborative mahi tahi.
  • Commitment to kaupapa Maori approaches and embedding tikanga Maori in service design.
  • Strategic thinker with a people-centred, inclusive approach.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification preferred.
  • Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
