About the Role

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our Prevention team as a Programme Manager.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide effective and efficient management, operational guidance, and leadership to progress innovative solutions to improve vaccination rates with a focus on addressing the equity gap for Māori and Pacific communities.

This is one of two Programme Manager roles in the team that work closely together taking a whānau centred approach. The roles focus on:

  • rangatahi and kaumatua and responsibility for the delivery of the influenza and COVID-19 vaccination programmes; and
  • antenatal and childhood immunisation

The role will support the implementation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the achievement of Pae Ora.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

About you

You are someone able to lead the delivery of the national components of the integrated immunisation plan. You are able to analyse and interpret complex data and dynamics and develop pragmatic operational advice and solutions. You have a calm and cheerful disposition and are able to work under pressure and meet deadlines in an ambiguous and dynamic environment.

  • A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification
  • The ability to draw on relevant longer-term experience specific to the job and work demands acquired over time – 3+ years
  • Proven experience in health care with experience successfully complex projects or programs of work
  • A passion for achieving equity in health and wellbeing in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Strong communication skills including interpersonal, preparing written reports, process maps and presentations
  • Excellent prioritisation and organisation skills, ability to juggle a range of urgent, short term, and long-term work priorities – seeks guidance and offers solutions
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of personal, professional and institutional behaviour through commitment, loyalty and integrity
  • With the support of Health NZ, you will proactively take care of your own health and safety, to ensure a safe and supportive work environment
