About the Role:
As a Rollingstock Trainer, you’ll be responsible for delivering engaging and effective training—both in the classroom and on the job. You’ll help ensure our staff are confident, competent, and safe in their roles. You'll also support continuous learning and help foster a strong, forward-looking training culture across the business. Please note this role will be based at the Wiri Depot located in Manukau.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver classroom-based and on-the-job training, as well as coordinate external training as needed, to ensure staff are competently signed off in their roles.
- Provide soft skills and behavioural training aligned with AOR’s values and operational goals.
- Develop and maintain engaging, blended training resources that reflect current and future technical requirements.
- Collect and organise data for monthly training reports, including trainee progress, assessment results, and course updates Communicate timely updates to technicians about changes in business practices, standards, and regulations.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- NZQA Level 5 technical qualification (or equivalent).
- Practical experience with rolling stock systems, including fault finding (mechanical and electrical), passenger information systems, and traction systems.
- Good understanding of rail operating procedures and codes.
- Effective communicator with the ability to engage and motivate learners.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and learning content development tools.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Qualification in adult education and training.
- NZQA Unit Standard 4098 (completed or in progress).
- Experience developing interactive lesson plans using modern learning techniques.
- Ability to assess technical competencies and tailor training to individual needs.
- Understanding of quality improvement principles and change facilitation.
