Job Description
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Team Leader in our Property Services Division’s Security Services Team. This is a unique position where you will be working in a fast paced, complex and varied environment.
Reporting to the Safety & Security Manager, you will oversee the shift and a team of 6 Security officers on a rotating roster.
Leadership, teamwork, mentoring, customer focus and negotiation skills are vital to the role. Through your leadership and guidance, your team will be a cohesive and effective unit providing a safe and secure environment for staff, students and visitors whilst protecting the University's assets with a prevention focus.
Services include response to crimes and incidents, the provision of foot patrols, locking and unlock services, alarm response daily egress checks, reporting of maintenance faults, event support, escorts, carpark enforcement and response to infrastructure/services failures.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), permanent opportunity on a five-week 24/7 rotating roster. Salary offered is $72,000pa.

The role of Property Services is to provide a leading facilities management, planning and development service that contributes to the success of the University of Auckland as a vibrant and progressive University.
He kōrero mōu | About you
Integral to your success you will have:
- 2 – 3+ years’ experience as a Security Officer
- Previous demonstrated experience within a leadership role
- Hold a current Certificate of Approval (COA), Level 3 certification for Security (NZQA recognised) and working toward Level 4
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- An understanding of Security Systems software packages including Access Control and CCTV software
- A good standard of physical fitness
- A current New Zealand Driver's License - Class 1
