About your team / Ko te tima
The Compliance Monitoring Team supports the integrity of third-party permit regimes, which exist to ensure activities, equipment and people involved in the highest risk work are safe. The team delivers a mix of proactive and reactive monitoring work, including audits and investigations, in partnership with other WorkSafe teams such as Authorisations and the Inspectorate.
About the role / O te turanga
The role is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of WorkSafe Mahi Haumaru's certification, authorisation, registration, and licensing processes. It involves conducting investigations and audits, liaising with industry stakeholders, and supporting regulatory compliance to enhance the safety of permitted parties, activities, and equipment.
As a senior member of the team, the Senior Advisor provides expert advice and plays a mentoring role, supporting the development of other team members and assisting the Principal Advisor and Manager of Compliance Monitoring.
What You'll Do/ Ko tou ake mahi
The Senior Advisor is a key member of the Compliance Monitoring team within Authorisations and Advisory and provides expert advice to support these regulatory decisions and monitors the progress of related activities, including complaints. You are also responsible for producing reports and contributing to the development and delivery of training materials when needed.
In addition, the role supports the preparation of briefing papers and responses to Official Information Act requests, which may involve research and stakeholder consultation. The Senior Advisor also assists in developing performance standards, policies, and procedures, and contributes to various projects and programmes led by the Manager Compliance Monitoring.
What You'll Bring / Ko nga pukenga ou
- Relevant tertiary qualification in health and safety and /or extensive and
comparable knowledge and experience gained in a similar role
- Strong expertise in assurance and compliance monitoring activities, such as auditing and investigation
- Sound experience in a regulatory environment, preferably with a risk and assurance lens
- Excellent relationship building skills, integrity, attention to detail and a desire to uplift Aotearoa New Zealand's work health and safety performance.

Salary range / Awhe utu
As part of our remuneration framework the full salary range for the position is from $111,204 to $146,382, and our expected starting base salary for the right person is from $111,204 to $122,930. Note: KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contribution is additional too/on top of your base salary.
