Tenei turanga - About the Role:

Join MBIE as a Senior Advisor Operations Portfolio, where you'll play a key role in supporting the delivery of strategic and operational initiatives across Te Whakatairanga Service Delivery (TWSD).
As part of the Operations Portfolio Office, you'll work closely with the Manager and Principal Advisor to provide expert advisory and process support. You'll guide business leads through TWSD's Koru process, helping shape robust initiative scoping and planning to enable high-quality, efficient decision-making.



In this role, you will:
  • ; Facilitate initiative scoping and planning through TWSD's Koru process
  • ; Support business leads to meet group and organisational process requirements
  • ; Uplift capability across TWSD in initiative delivery and process understanding

Skills and Experience Required

  • ; Skilled in facilitating workshops and meetings using diverse tools and frameworks to explore problems, opportunities, and customer-focused solutions.
  • ; Experienced in advising senior leaders on business change, continuous improvement, and project initiation.
  • ; Proven track record supporting organisation-wide quality initiatives that enhance productivity and customer service.
  • ; Strong background in business and impact analysis, with hands-on use of project management tools and methodologies.
  • ; Recognised as a trusted advisor who constructively challenges thinking to support high-impact decision-making.
  • ; Deep understanding of the machinery of government and public sector policies and procedures.
  • ; Demonstrated ability to build trust and strong working relationships across diverse teams and stakeholder groups.
  • ; Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to varied audiences.
  • ; Skilled at synthesising complex ideas and integrating expert insights into clear, actionable advice.
  • ; Adept at navigating complex environments with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.

  • ; Must be a New Zealand citizen or Permanent Resident Class visa holder
  • ; This role may be subject to a New Zealand Government security clearance. Eligibility criteria will apply
