Mo tenei turanga - about the role
Following the 2022 independent review by Te Kawa Mataaho, Fire and Emergency launched the Eke Taumata Programme to strengthen organisational culture. As Senior Advisor - Safe, Positive and Inclusive, you'll lead the design and delivery of initiatives that embed inclusive, future-focused practices across the organisation.
You'll help design and deliver refresher material to embed our new Code of Conduct / Te Tikanga Whanonga, develop supporting policies, and create educational resources to equip leaders in applying new HR processes. You'll also contribute to delivering our Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, with two system-level projects already underway.
This position is fixed term from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026. Ideally the successful candidate will be based out of our NHQ office in Wellington.
Ko tau na i tenei turanga - What you'll bring to the role:
The successful candidate will bring understanding, knowledge and experience delivering on HR related culture programmes. You will have strong background in designing and implementing new frameworks and processes, with well-developed skills to identifying problems and designing suitable solutions. You will apply both creative and logical thinking to deliver outcomes for the initiatives required. As a natural relationship builder, you will demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain organisational relationships and be confident in the ability to brief senior leaders and representation of the organisation in a variety of forums.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Strong proven experience in HR and organisational development
- Strong background in designing frameworks, guidance, and education programmes
- Ability to deliver cross-functional projects with diverse stakeholders
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and project management skills
- Confidence in briefing senior leaders and representing the organisation
- An ability to express complex thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in written form
The salary range for this role is $114,663 - $127,404 (pro rata), dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
