We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Technology team and be part of the team who supports our People & Culture business.
This is an Auckland based hybrid role with three days in the office and two days where you can work flexibly.

We sat down with our Platform Manager, and they let us know the following about the role.
What are some of the day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?
- Collaborate with the wider team to clarify requirements for data processing (incl. ways of obtaining/ingesting data into the existing data storage, extending it for accommodating new info and creating new mechanisms for consuming it).
- Create respective ETL/DBT pipelines using Airflow, test and deploy respective changes in production.
- Monitor existing pipelines, address arising issues/incidents, implement optimisation enhancements.
What is the team culture and environment like?
We are quite tight team who are working closely with our business team. We collaborate often and this gives us opportunity to deliver business benefits faster. We have embraced Agile ways of working, yet we are still enhancing our practices. We are a fun bunch.
What projects / work will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?
The biggest rock for us now is the implementation of Learning, Performance and Talent management in Workday of the back of which we will be significantly extending Colleague Data Product, filling it with new data and provide new analytics to our internal consumers.
What technical skills are required for this role?
We are looking for someone with extensive experience working with Snowflake databases using Airflow & Astronomer, have exceptional proficiency in SQL, be strong in modelling and optimisation of database and be fluent in Python. Understanding of concepts and challenges of managing people related information and having experience of dealing with it would be an immense advantage.
What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role?
The ideal candidate would be a communicable person, who is open and authentic, quick learner and supportive team player. Also, it would be beneficial for a candidate to have previous experience in mentoring/coaching junior members of the team to upskill and accelerate their development.
