ABOUT THE ROLE
The successful candidate will be at the top of their game as an Estimator. You will be able to provide advice, coaching and mentoring to Intermediate and Junior Estimators and be well versed in the details of Commercial Estimating. This role includes developing budgets for a wide variety of projects including new builds, refurbishments, re-clads and fit outs in all industry sectors.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead tender submission including managing/coordination with various other parties that may be part of the bid team
- Provide input into project methodology and program including innovative alternatives
- Risk and opportunity identification
- Build cost budget estimates from preliminary documents
- Prepare detailed estimates from tender/consent documents
- Request and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Prepare schedule of quantities
- Prepare preliminary and general costs
- Measure the retained work packages (demolition, concrete & carpentry)
- Estimate the cost of retained work packages from first principles
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Review full tender submission prepared by estimators, program, methodology and non-price attributes for management sign-off prior to submission
- Identify anomalies
Requirements
- Solid experience in quantity surveying and commercial estimating
- National Diploma in Quantity Surveying or other relevant tertiary qualification
- Background in trade is advantageous
- CostX experience preferred but not required
