Position Overview:
As part of the talented Software Test team,
The Software Quality Tester ensures marine software applications meet quality standards through test planning, execution, and defect reporting. This role supports the delivery of reliable and user-friendly solutions by working closely with developers and cross-functional teams.
We also welcome experienced captains or marine operators with strong technical and analytical skills who are looking to transition into software testing. An interest in test automation and marine systems is a strong advantage.

Essential Functions:
- Captain the vessel and independently conduct on-water testing and validation of marine electronics under real-world conditions.
- Develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases.
- Identify, document, and report software defects and inconsistencies.
- Collaborate with development teams to understand project requirements and design effective test strategies.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, and system testing as required.
- Participate in code reviews and provide input on testing practices.
- Assist in developing test plans and contribute to quality assurance documentation
- Conduct root cause analysis on defects and collaborate to resolve issues.
Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience working in the marine industry (e.g., as a captain or marine operator)
- Valid skipper’s license or equivalent experience in skippering boats.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in software testing or quality assurance.
- Hands-on experience with both manual and automated testing.
- Analytical thinking with high attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic programming or scripting skills (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
- Exposure to test automation tools and practices
- Understanding of embedded systems and hardware/software integration
- ISTQB certification or similar is a plus
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with opportunities for remote work (3 days a week onsite minimum).
- Field testing conducted on boats or marine environments, requiring comfort with outdoor and on-water conditions
- Occasional early starts or extended hours during on-water validation trips
