Tipsy Foodies Limited, is looking for two Store Managers for its two restaurants: Tipsy Foodies in Kaikōura, which is tucked away between the Pacific Ocean and the stunning Kaikōura mountains, V EIGHT Cafe in KAIKOURA, We are renowned for providing outstanding customer service and a delectable meal. We want each and every one of our visitors to have a warm and pleasurable meal. Our goal is to provide a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for all of our guests.
About the role:
The Store Manager reports directly to the owners and plays a key role in shaping and developing the business. You will be responsible for organising and overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations, including developing efficient workflows, ensuring regulatory compliance, leading and managing a dedicated team, overseeing marketing efforts, and ensuring exceptional customer service alongside the consistent delivery of high-quality food and service.
This is a permanent, full-time position that guarantees a minimum of 30 hours per week. This a great opportunity for someone who has a great work ethic, stays calm under pressure, and is flexible on working days and hours.
Duties:
Operations Management:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the establishment to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction.
- Controlling and organising the purchasing of stock for front-of-house and kitchen operations, in collaboration with the chef.
- Monitoring product pricing to ensure it remains competitive while adjusting for increased costs in goods and labour.
- Conducting weekly stocktakes and daily financial reconciliations.
Staff Management and Training:
- Recruiting, training, supervising, and managing the ongoing development of staff to ensure optimal performance.
- Organising work schedules and delegating responsibilities to maximise efficiency during peak periods.
- Driving team performance through motivation and clear communication to achieve operational goals.
Compliance and Cleanliness:
- Ensuring all food preparation and service areas meet health and safety regulations and maintain high cleanliness standards.
- Overseeing alcohol sales in compliance with legal requirements.\
Customer Service:
- Managing reservations, customer orders, and handling payment transactions efficiently.
- Addressing and resolving customer complaints promptly and professionally to maintain satisfaction.
Marketing Efforts and Event Coordination:
- Create specials or themed promotions to attract new customers and retain existing ones, including social media ads, email marketing, and special events in collaboration with kitchen staff.
- Oversee the restaurant's social media platforms, engage with customers, and respond to reviews on sites like Google, Yelp, and TripAdvisor to build brand reputation.
- Planning and organising promotional activities, including special functions when required.
Requirements:
Work Experience: At least 2 years of relevant hospitality experience, preferably in a busy restaurant environment.
Alcohol License: Manager Certificate and/or LCQ Certificate or willing to obtain one.
Other:
- A clean police record and a valid full driving license.
- Positive attitude, building rapport with staff and customers, and the ability to thrive under pressure.
- Excellent English communication skills and handling customers professionally.
- Great presentation, personal hygiene, and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and public holidays, as per the store opening hours from Monday to Sunday.
