Job Description
What you'll be doing;
As a summer intern with Meridian Energy, you'll get the opportunity to work on some of New Zealand's most iconic hydro and wind generation assets, as well as being active in all aspects of the company. The programme will push you to develop real-life business and technical skills.
We only take a small number of interns each year, and we only want the best! In return we’ll make sure you get some great hands-on experience. You’ll be trusted with owning significant projects, and will be supported by a friendly team of experts along the way, who will help develop your knowledge, skills, and professional profile.
We are lucky enough to have 2 available locations (Christchurch or Twizel), and you’ll be placed at either one of them – both with awesome opportunities and unique benefits.
What you’ll get?
Hands-on experience in the areas of dam safety, civil engineering and asset management (Project and Infrastructure Management), working on civil structures including earthen embankment structures (Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources, Hydraulics/Hydrology), concrete structures (Structural Engineering, Materials Engineering) and water flow structures such as canals and penstocks (Fluid Mechanics). Carrying out responsibilities including asset inspections, investigations, reporting and analysis, project and contractor management.
For those based in Twizel, this includes plenty of time in the field working on our Waitaki Assets. Christchurch-based interns won’t miss out – you will get the opportunity to visit these amazing assets!
This programme may also open the door to limited opportunities within our Graduate Programme, though placement is not guaranteed.
