Kaituhi/Ētita Reo Māori

Kei te rapu mātou i tētahi Kaituhi/Ētita Reo Māori e mātau ana ki te whakaputa i ngā kōrero ā-tuhi, e mārama ana ki te nuinga, mō ngā whakaaturanga me ngā momo kaupapa whānui. Ko ngā mahi a te tūranga nei he whakawhanake, he tuhituhi i ngā kōrero mō ngā whakaaturanga me ngā whare toi, arā, ko ngā tapanga kōrero, ko ngā kōrero ā-hiko, ko ngā kōrero mō ngā momo ataata, ko te aha, ko te aha atu anō. Kei raro i te mahi ētita, ko koe tonu te tangata e kōkiri ana i te whakapūmautanga o ngā tikanga ā-tuhi i te whakawhanaketanga mai o ngā whakaaturanga.

We are seeking an experienced Kaituhi/Ētita Reo Māori to produce accessible text for exhibitions and other public experiences. In this role you will develop and write te reo Māori text for exhibitions and galleries, including label text, text for digital and AV experiences and more. As an editor, you will be responsible for ensuring best editorial practices are followed for the development of exhibition text.

Ka whakawhiwhia tēnei tūranga ki tētahi tangata orotau hōhonu, he pūkenga ki te whakatakoto kōrero kia rangona te hā o te kupu me te ihi me te wehi o te reo e ngā momo tāngata rerekē. Me mātau hoki ki te whakawhitiwhiti kōrero, ki te mahi ngātahi ki ngā tāngata nō roto, nō waho anō o te whare i runga i te whakaaro pai. Ka mahitahi te Kaituhi/Ētita Reo Māori ki te taha o te Kaituhi/Ētita reo Pākehā ki te whakaputa i ngā whakaaturanga reorua.

The successful applicant will be a strong conceptual thinker and an accomplished storyteller, with the ability to develop tone and voice that engages diverse audiences. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative and positive outlook are essential for working with internal and external stakeholders. The Kaituhi/Ētita Reo Māori will work closely with the Writer/Editor to deliver bi-lingual exhibition text.

  • Demonstrated experience of writing to briefs for audiences on a variety of topics, in a clear manner and to strict word limits.
  • Kua kitea tōna mōhio ki te whai i te ara tuhituhi kōrero – mai i te whakaaro ki te whakaputanga.
  • Demonstrated experience of developing written content from concept to production.
  • He mātau ki te tārai i te kōrero ā-tuhi, ki te whakatikatika kōrero. He pūkenga ki te wetewete i te reo e mātau ana ki te whakamahi i ngā tohu kārawarawa me te tātaki kupu.
  • Strong structural editing and copyediting skills, along with an excellent knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • He mātau ki te hāpai i ngā tikanga ā-tuhi.
  • A sound understanding of best editorial practice.

  • A tertiary qualification in humanities, material culture, science, communication or a relevant field of study.

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience writing and editing te reo Māori text ideally for museum audiences, including:

  • Demonstrated experience of writing to briefs for audiences on a variety of topics, in a clear manner and to strict word limits.
  • Demonstrated experience of developing written content from concept to production.
  • Strong structural editing and copyediting skills, along with an excellent knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • A sound understanding of best editorial practice.
  • A tertiary qualification in humanities, material culture, science, communication or a relevant field of study.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in text development.
