About the opportunity
As the Wood Purchase Coordinator, you will work alongside the Wood Purchase Manager. You will play a key role in securing and managing the procurement of private forests across the Hawke’s Bay region. Your focus will be on building strong relationships with farmers and forest owners to ensure a sustainable and cost-effective log supply for our Lumber and Pulp operations and economic returns to our clients.
You'll be involved in:
- Liaising, negotiating, and purchasing private forest lots
- Monitoring and overseeing harvest operations
- Managing financial outcomes associated with wood purchases
- Supporting strategic wood procurement and long-term planning
- Developing strategies for future growth of our wood procurement business
- Contributing to a positive team culture and strong cross-functional collaboration

About you
We’re looking for someone with forestry experience, strong project management skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. This is your chance to work across procurement, operations, and strategy, while building long-term relationships with forest owners and contributing to a business that values sustainability, safety, and people.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
- Tertiary qualification in forestry preferred (not essential)
- 2–3 years’ experience (harvesting or forest engineering advantageous)
- Confident managing contractors and negotiating contracts
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Able to work independently with high accuracy and efficiency
- Positive, adaptable, and calm under pressure
- Clear and professional communicator, both verbal and written
- Practical problem-solver with sound judgment
- Team player who builds strong working relationships
