Te Tūranga | The Role
Join our Market Conduct team, where you'll play a vital part in safeguarding the integrity of New Zealand's capital markets. We keep a watchful eye on market activity, swiftly respond to potential non-compliance, and take firm regulatory action when needed to uphold fair and transparent markets. We're seeking an Adviser or Senior Adviser to become part of our supportive, collaborative, and fun team based in either Auckland or Wellington. Here, your work will be varied and impactful, tackling challenges such as:
- Investigating trading misconduct, including market manipulation, insider trading, and disclosure issues on licensed markets;
- Addressing fair dealing concerns related to financial product offers and advertising;
- Leading regulatory projects and in-depth thematic research;
- Crafting clear guidance that helps market participants understand and meet their responsibilities.

FMA files court proceedings alleging insider trading relating to the sale of Pushpay shares
FMA directs Du Val to remove misleading advertising
FMA's civil proceedings against a portfolio manager for alleged market manipulation

Depending on the depth and level of your experience, we are open to considering candidates for either an Adviser or a Senior Adviser role within the team. We're looking for someone who brings:
- Relevant legal and/or financial markets experience (especially trading-related);
- Sharp analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities;
- Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills;
- A passion for continuous learning and improvement;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
