We are looking for an advisor to join the Office of Legal Counsel/Appointments and Specialist Functions Team. You will need to have knowledge of and/or experience in machinery of government and judicial processes, an ability to produce high quality written material and work confidently with Minister's Offices, the Judiciary the legal profession and members of the public.

The Office of Legal Counsel provides a broad range of specialist legal advice across all groups within the Ministry and includes the Ministry's Appointments and Specialist Functions team. This team is responsible for managing judicial and crown entity appointments, supporting the office of the Judicial Conduct Commissioner and the Central Authority overseeing Hague Convention applications.

Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience

The role is a busy and varied one. You will need to be organised, have a professional approach to your work, good communication skills and be able to deal with people from all levels of the organisation and with matters that may be sensitive or confidential.

You will be responsible for a range of activities such as managing and responding to correspondence, case management of Central Authority and Judicial Conduct Commissioner cases, drafting cabinet and briefing papers, arranging and supporting judicial appointment panels, engaging with stakeholders and supporting administrative functions across the Office of Legal Counsel.

You will be confident using Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

You will be a fast learner, enthusiastic, flexible and have a great sense of humour. You will have excellent attention to detail, the discretion to be able to deal with confidential information and the time management and planning skills to enable you to respond to changing needs and priorities. You will need to show initiative and the willingness to get things done.

Utu ā-tau/Salary

The appointing salary for this role will be between $73,634 and $100,846 based on skills and experience.
