After school companion for young boy with Autism

    Auckland, Rodney, Silverdale

    Permanent Part time
    Start Date: June 23, 2025
    Hours Per Week: 6

  • A fun supportive role!

Part-Time Support Role – Silverdale
Hours: 3 hours twice per week (total 6 hours)
Schedule: Weekdays, after school. 2 – 5pm flexible.
Start Date: As soon as the right person is found

We’re seeking a kind and creative person to support a bright and imaginative 7-year-old boy. He is full of playfulness, enjoying adventures with his plushies and anyone who joins in the fun.

About the Role:

The role includes picking him up from school (a full driver's license and reliable car are required), spending quality time with him at home, and occasionally heading out for low-key outings like park visits or creative play.

This is a rewarding role for someone who:

  • Can create a calm, engaging, and consistent environment

  • Understands or is open to learning about neurodiversity, especially autism and ADHD

  • Is warm, playful, imaginative, and able to set clear but gentle boundaries

  • Is fully present—phone use during work hours should be minimal

  • Has the sensitivity to read and respond to a child's energy and emotional state

  • Can assist with light housework when the child is independently occupied

  • Is comfortable supporting toileting routines and fostering independence skills

About Him:

He’s a loving, artistic child who enjoys drawing, imaginative play, plushies, and some screen time. After school, he often needs space to unwind. He responds well to people who are calm, consistent, and genuinely engaged with him. Support with routines (especially around eating and toileting) is important, and experience in this area is a plus.

Bonus:

Flexibility for occasional weekend or school holiday hours is appreciated. If you’re someone who brings empathy, creativity, and structure—and you’re excited about supporting a child’s unique strengths—we’d love to hear from you.
