The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) is responsible for carrying out technical work as directed, to a high standard and in compliance with applicable policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Reporting to the Team Lead, Whenuapai Maintenance, as an AME you will be part of a wider team which is contracted to carry out specialist aircraft maintenance, working with the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF). The role carries out inspections, repairs and modifications in accordance with RNZAF Engineering standards & instructions, to ensure on-time service delivery to the customer. This role is primarily in support of Seasprite Helicopters working in a workshop environment.
This will include but is not limited to:
- Carry out tasks and complete signatory responsibilities for all technical work practices, methods and activities in accordance with technical manuals, Company procedures, OEM Approvals, Standing Orders and Aviation Authority regulations and requirements
- Observe and comply with RNZAF instructions, regulations, procedures and Standing Orders
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of appropriate documentation (including daily time sheets and CMMS actions) within ERP system
- Organise GSE, tooling and safety requirements (e.g. risk assessment, PPE etc) for tasks as required
- Ensure all tooling is controlled and used in the manner that it is designed for

To be successful in this role, it is a requirement to be able to work in a team environment, be a constructive, professional and respectful team member and demonstrate good verbal and written skills. You will need to be someone who has the ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities, and work under pressure is able to work autonomously and to tight deadlines and work comfortably in a continuous improvement work environment.
The skills and experience best suited to this role include:
- NZ recognised Aeronautical Engineering certificate - minimum Level 4; or, for ex-military personnel, completion of technical training; or a CAANZ AME Licence
- A minimum of 3 years' post apprenticeship experience in Aviation
- Significant knowledge and experience in aircraft maintenance, aircraft structures and/or structural repairs
- Knowledge of, and ability to apply, relevant regulations, standards, policies and procedures
- Ability to access and interpret all applicable technical data, drawings and bulletins
- Training and knowledge of military aircraft, components or systems
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and customer satisfaction
