The University’s fundraising activity and alumni engagement is undertaken from the Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO). It is an exciting time to be a part of the professional fundraising and alumni engagement team in DARO, so that the goodwill, nostalgia and willingness to support the university is leveraged and maximised for the future of the University.
The role/Te mahi
Reporting to the Director of Development & Alumni Relations, you will lead the team responsible for creating and implementing a professional and engaged network of Alumni and friends for the University of Otago.
Your role is important to achieving growth in alumni engagement strategies that align with the University’s strategic goals and objectives.
You will build strong relationships with other staff in the DARO team, while leading and supporting your team to effectively communicate and work with departments and divisions across the university.
Developing and delivering an alumni engagement programme which provides mutual benefits for alumni and the university is key. Experience in leading client-centric programmes in higher education will be advantageous.

- You will be an adept communicator and leader, with excellent organisational and decision-making skills.
- You will think strategically, and lead your team to do the same, while having the ability to distil large amounts of information and triage and execute more tactical requests.
- You will be collaborative, solutions-focused and practical, with an ability to build productive relationships and manage stakeholders domestically and internationally.
- Experience using AI assisted technologies and modern communication platforms and methods is essential.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) permanent role, located in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.
The appointment range for this role is $93,321 to $101,963. Top of the range is $110,603.
We offer competitive salary, 5 weeks’ annual leave, a 6.75% superannuation scheme, and encourage work/life balance.
