Te Tari Pūreke – Firearms Safety Authority is New Zealand’s Firearms Regulator. Our Vision is to ensure the possession and use of firearms in Aotearoa is the safest in the world.
To achieve this, Te Tari Pūreke delivers four core functions: effectively implementing the firearms licensing systems; managing the Firearms Registry; educating people to enable compliance with their legislative responsibilities; and promoting the safe possession and lawful use of firearms.

About the role
To support the delivery of these outcomes the Arms Service Supervisor - Registry will take every opportunity to prevent harm through the transparent, consistent, timely and efficient regulation, administration, education, and promotion of compliance with the provisions of the Arms Act.
As a Arms Service Supervisor - Registry, you will lead a team, overseeing day-to-day regulatory compliance and ensure your team delivers the high-quality service the public deserve and expect. Managing the full spectrum of Arms Act and Arms Regulation requirements and the registration of firearms, licencing enquiries, firearm transfers, general enquires, dealer transactions and dealer enquiries. You will already possess a skill set which enables you to identify areas of risk or increased demand and facilitate appropriate follow-up action to reduce or mitigate the identified issue. Furthermore, you will completing internal control checks and quality assurance processes as well as monitoring workflow and throughput.
Importantly you will have strong people leaderships skills which will enable you to plan, develop and monitor the performance of staff in your team. You will be ensuring that they are motivated, trained and encouraged to the best of their abilities. Managing PHPF conversations, appraisals and supporting ongoing training, you will lead NZP values and instil these values with your people.
Key Deliverables:
The day-to-day people management and supervision, of the team, monitoring, task allocation and required reporting
Hands on leadership, managing adherence to Registry service levels and time-based KPI’s
Monitoring of team workflow and through put, assigning appropriate resources to meet demand
Identifying areas of risk or of increased demand and ensuring risk mitigation actions are taken / reported
Completing internal control checks and quality assurance processes to ensure data and regulatory compliance
Overseeing requirements of NIA entry, Arms Act, Arms Regulations and other nationally mandated systems, processes, documentation, and procedures
Establish and maintain appropriate internal and external working relationships with key individuals and agencies at the appropriate level
Foster licence holder understanding of their regulatory responsibilities
Provide accurate advice and share information with appropriate stakeholders
Our business hours are Monday to Friday from 0800 to 1700 hrs. Some flexibility between these hours will be required with rotational shifts from 0800 to 1600, 0830 to 1630, and 0900 to 1700.

Special requirements
Previous service centre / phone-based experience is desirable, although not essential to application.
People management / supervisory experience is preferred.
An understanding of the Arms Act and Arms Regulations would be beneficial.
