The Role
This position will provide electrical system subject matter expert support to all maintenance functions operating within the Rollingstock Maintenance business unit. You will also have the capability to identify, define, and/or develop designs, modifications and maintenance strategies to support AOR’s asset management objectives.
The successful candidate will be based at our Wiri Depot majority of the time with the occasional commute to our offices on Queen Street, Ellerslie and depots across the network.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in identifying and analysing business requirements for asset management systems
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems to support asset management objectives
- Lead the development of electrical design and maintenance documents to support the maintenance of the rollingstock fleet
- Engage and manage subcontractors on the delivery of electrical refurbishment related to the preventative and corrective rollingstock maintenance and overhauls
- Support the delivery and ongoing requirements of maintenance management systems (MMS) Maximo
- Support electrical fault diagnosis activities and provide interface to any stakeholders and/or contracting partners for containment and/or corrective actions to be carried out
- Participate in the full lifecycle of electrical systems development, including project planning, requirement gathering, system design, development, testing, implementation and monitoring
- The ability to maintain positive relationships with stakeholders to ensure that system requirements are met.
Requirements
- Significant technical knowledge and experience with relevant tertiary education ie: Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Ability and willingness to adapt, quickly learn and use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing structure, process, information and/or technology.
- Experience in electrical system design, development, and implementation, preferably including those related to asset management and within a heavy maintenance or transportation environment, rollingstock experience preferred.
- Experience in project management, overhaul and modification of assets within a heavy maintenance or transportation environment
- Previous involvement in project phases such as requirement gathering, system design, development, testing, implementation and monitoring.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and an ability to analyse potential solutions using technical experience and judgement.
- Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands and handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
