About the Role
The ACNM/ATL will work in close collaboration with the existing charge nurse manager (CNM) to manage and provide leadership support across the teams. As the successful candidate, you will provide continued clinical coordination and expertise to enable an effective practice environment in all three services. You will have delegated ongoing responsibilities from the CNM and provide direct care as required and clinical leadership for staff with coaching and supervision.
Key responsibilities:
- Mental Health and Addictions Service in the Waikato are implementing transformation change to be a Māori led service. You will need to be able to embrace these changes and to support the implementation of a Māori led service within the team and the wider service.
- Work with the Charge Nurse Manager/Team Leader to support and lead a well-functioning mental health and addictions community team.
- To be committed to understanding the needs of the communities that we work in and building networks within them.
- To have sound decision making skills especially in high pressure situations.

About the Team/Service
The Rural South Sector provides a range of secondary care mental health services across the South Waikato and King Country region. Our base is in Te Awamutu with outreach clinics located in Tokoroa, Te Kuiti and Taumarunui. The team is made up of a multi disiplinary team of Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Takawaenga and Psychiatrists.
Mental Health and Addictions Services at Waikato delivers a full range of specialty services across the district. About you
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of MātaurangaMāori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
- Hold registration with the relevant registration board with a current annual practicing certificate.
- A current full drivers licence.
- Passionate about leading a team whose main goals are to make a difference to the lives of tangata whaiora and whanau.
- Some leadership experience and have worked in Mental Health Services for 3 years.
- Experience with community networking and managing inter-sectoral relationships/partnerships.
- This is a challenging, diverse role which requires creativity, reliability and exceptional organisational skills.
