Dunedin City Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Building Inspector to join our busy team. If you have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of building codes and regulations, and a passion for ensuring safe and compliant structures within our unique city, we want to hear from you!
About the Role:
You'll play a crucial role in safeguarding our community by conducting comprehensive inspections of residential and commercial properties across Dunedin. This includes:
- Conduct inspections of residential and commercial buildings to ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and approved plans.
- Provide expert advice to developers, architects, and the public on building compliance matters.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with planning, environmental health, and fire safety teams.
What we're looking for:
- Regulation 18 Qualification (candidates studying towards the Regulation 18 qualification may be considered).
- Under National BCA Competency Assessment as being at least Com 1.
- At least 3 years' experience in the building industry, preferably in a wide variety of New Zealand building projects. This could be experience in design, draughting, plumbing, drainage, construction, construction supervision or any combination of above.
- Strong knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Salary range: $81,140 - $95,459
